The "Difference Configuration Distribution" dialog displays all detected changes relative to the selected snapshot.
You can select the modified configuration files in the left-hand window. The content of the corresponding file is displayed in the right-hand window. Use the checkbox to confirm each individual file to be included in the differential distribution.
Configuration files in which only a few new or modified entries are merged with existing entries are identified by the file extension ".dif.merge" (e.g., "config.xml.dif.merge"). Files that are completely overwritten or added do not have an additional extension. They are displayed with their original file name (e.g., "config.xml").
Within a configuration file, sections that are to be merged are also marked with the extension ".dif.merge". Within a configuration file, sections that are to be merged are also marked with the extension ".dif.merge".
The CTI Client window layout is stored in the "windows.xml" file. This concerns the layout of the application window and one or more sidebars, as well as the positioning of tabbed and pop-up windows.
Attention! When the "windows.xml" file is selected, the window layout is fully applied to the existing installations. This overwrites all individual window settings of the respective Clients.
You should select "windows.xml" for differential distribution only if:
If you want to transfer a deliberately modified window layout (e.g., newly created document windows in a specific tab arrangement) to all clients. The file is also marked as modified if, for example, another tab has been selected or a window's size or position has changed. In this case, the file should not be selected.
If you are certain that the same document windows are available on all clients. The individual document windows (such as the Speed-dial panel, PhoneStack, Phonebook, Journal, Appointments, History, TeamChat, notes, etc.) are provided by the respective components independently of the window management system. The window management system is responsible only for the display and positioning within the respective application windows. It is also important that all document windows configured in the clients match those of the master installation with regard to "CfgName" and/or "GUID".
Conflicts involving the "display name" of components can arise if users have created new components themselves on existing clients (e.g., Speed-dial panel, PhoneStack, PhoneDialog, Journal, etc.).
In this case, you should change the "Name" of newly created components to unique names in the Master Setup. Renaming can be performed in the "Options" dialog or via [Context Menu > Rename] for the currently selected component (e.g., Speed-dial panel).Conflicts with "configuration names": Starting with program version 3.1.053, conflicts with "CfgName" are automatically prevented. When the "Generate Setup" dialog is invoked for the first time, the respective CTI Client is designated as the master setup. Subsequently, the additional extension "_mx" is added to the "CfgName" of all components created from this point onwards (e.g., "speeddial_mx_2").
To transfer a newly created journal to the clients, in addition to the file "journal\journal_mgr.xml", the files contained in the corresponding subfolder (e.g., "journal_2") must also be transferred:
"jour_cfg.xml", "datasource.ini", "folder_cfg.ini", "mask.cfg" can be selected.Hint: The file "jour_cfg.xml" is also marked as modified if only the order of the displayed columns has changed. When the file is selected, all settings for the journal in question will be overwritten. Therefore, you should select the file only if you are certain that you want to transfer the journal settings (e.g., a new journal or newly added columns) from the master setup to all clients.
To transfer a new speed-dial panel to the clients, the following points should be observed:
- In addition to "speeddial.xml.dif.merge", the associated files "btns.xml" and "panel.xml" must be selected (see screenshot).
![]()
- To display the newly transferred speed-dial panel in all clients at the same window position as in the master setup, the "windows.xml" file must also be selected. Please note the information regarding "Transfer window layout".
If the "windows.xml" file is not selected, the new speed-dial panel is configured and available in all Clients but is not yet displayed in the application window. To display the new speed-dial panel, the respective user must open it via the "Window" main menu. When opened, this appears as a pop-up window on the desktop. The user now has the option to dock the new speed-dial panel at the desired position within the application window (or on a sidebar) using drag-and-drop.
To transfer a new or modified phonebook to the clients, all files displayed in the "cfg" subfolder must be selected.
The file "folders.ini.dif.lines.merge" is displayed as modified only if a phonebook has been newly created or deleted. In this case, the file must be selected.
Attention! The file "content.csv" should only be selected if the contents of the phonebook are also to be transferred. For phonebooks already present on the clients, this results in the contents being overwritten.
